The objective is to keep as close as possible to the 110-ohm characteristic impedance specification to minimise cable reflections and hence time-based jitter induction. The Hyper AES/EBU employs a low contact resistance soldered copper-alloy XLR plug; we use a balanced pair of screened silver-plated OFC conductors to maximise performance. These conductors are enclosed within a multi-level screen constructed from Aluminium Mylar™ film and OFC woven braid. Both conductors are wrapped individually with a highly efficient microporous PTFE dielectric tape with an anti-vibration cotton filler.
